Uptown Tbilisi is an in­novative project of Rakeen Development currently being constructed in Tbilisi, Digomi district. It is being built at high speed despite all hinder­ing factors which have proved detrimental to the develop­ment of the construction mar­ket in Georgia recently.
Uptown Tbilisi is a new name in city architecture. It is distinguished by its scale, architecture, design and con­struction. The project was drawn up by international architecture and design company Cadiz In­ternational, which has found a particular niche in this field due to its perfect style and new approach to work. Cadiz International has created in­novative projects in more than 10 countries, in Middle Eastern countries, in Eastern Europe and in the USA.
In the concept of the ar­chitectural design of Uptown Tbilisi Cadiz International particularly emphasises Tbi­lisi's landscape and its archi­tectural individuality, its im­portance in the Transcaucasia region as a centre of culture and commerce, as a unique synthesis of European and Asian traditions and at the same time, prone to introduc­ing innovations and high level standards.
Uptown's interior design is built on a "4 seasons" concept that is ideally represented in Georgia: Spring - full of life and the colour green; Summer
- full of solar energy; Autumn
- the beauty of colour and va­riety; Winter - characterised by its severity and crystal whiteness.
As a multifunctional com­plex Uptown Tbilisi includes three basic segments: a trade centre, office and residential complexes. Construction of this project is also divided into three phases: the first phase, currently underway, involves construction of the trade, entertainment and recreation centre of Uptown
- Uptown Tbilisi Centre, with a total area of 200,000 square metres. Additionally there is underground parking space for 2,500 cars which is divided into 30 sections. The building is divided into three blocks connected to each oth­er by above-ground and un­derground connecting lines and representing one joint complex. The central part of the building is a four level atrium covered by a grand 50 metre metal and glass cupola, the function of which is purely architectural.
Modern international standards are being used in the projection of Uptown. Monolithic ferro-concrete elements define the unity of the buildings. The building's base is a very large, solid tile, installed through an unin­terrupted pouring method in conditions of aggressive underground waters which a special communication chan­nel has been connected to. It is possible to move small means of transportation through this channel, which simplifies the use of engineering networks.
Construction is being car­ried out by International Con­struction Holding. A group of experienced professionals is working on this project. They are using the most mod­ern technologies and creat­ing a unique construction of Uptown Tbilisi, which is the first of its size and complexity not only in Georgia but in the whole region of the Caucasus.
As well as its architectural and constructive unique­ness, Uptown is notable for its multifunctional character. Uptown Tbilisi Centre will en­able customers to access high quality services in various spheres such as shopping, en­tertainment, food, fitness and recreation.
Uptown Tbilisi Centre will be interesting and attractive because of its comfortable en­vironment and availability of service for local and foreign visitors as well as an accent put on customers of all segments.
Commercial spaces are al­ready being reserved by rep­resentatives of local and for­eign businesses and brands of various kinds and categories.
At the end of 2010 Uptown Tbilisi Centre will host its first visitors and we hope that it will be occupying an impor­tant and relevant place in Tbilisi's city life in the nearest future.
